Personal injury is an area of law that seeks to compensate a person for injuries to their body.  Such injuries can be caused in many ways, including auto accidents, pedestrian collisions, or slip and falls.  Unfortunately, when a person is injured, the problems do not end there.  Medical visits and bills usually follow, and the person may not be able to return to work immediately.  To make matters worse, insurance companies engage in delay tactics and trickery to pay as little as possible.  Chen Law Group will ensure that victims are properly compensated for their personal injuries.

Automobile accidents can involve multiple vehicles, and the collision can be light, moderate, or severe.  But regardless of how an auto accident occurs, a person is entitled to compensation for even the slightest of injuries.  Unfortunately, the law surrounding compensation for automobile accident injuries can be quite complex to navigate.  This is especially true when the insurance companies are involved, as their goal is to avoid liability and minimize payout.  Chen Law Group will fight the insurance companies and obtain just compensation for those injured in automobile accidents.

The public roadways are shared with tractor trailer trucks, more commonly known as "big rigs" or "semi-trucks."  Although these behemoth vehicles play an indispensable role in our economy, they are difficult to maneuver on the streets and a danger to other motorists.  Collisions with tractor trailer trucks can result in serious injuries.  To complicate matters, tractor trailer trucks are usually insured by commercial insurance policies with terms that are unfamiliar to the average motorist.  Chen Law Group possesses the experience to obtain redress for those injured by these trucks.

The warmth of California's weather is so alluring that residents and visitors are enticed to walk around outside all year round.  But the sidewalks that people walk on often run adjacent to busy streets, and crossing these streets can be hazardous and/or deadly.  Vehicle collisions with pedestrians often occur because motorists are distracted by their cell phones or simply not paying attention to their surroundings.  Injuries caused by pedestrian collisions can be catastrophic and debilitating.  Chen Law Group knows how to obtain just compensation for those injured by unwary motorists.

Motorcyclists and bicyclists are some of the most vulnerable commuters on the road.  This is due to their size and lack of protection compared to drivers of an automobile.  Yet they are often shown hostility by other motorists who share the public roadways.  Even the most minor of collisions involving motorcycles and bicycles can often result in catastrophic injuries for the rider.  Chen Law Group thoroughly knows the laws protecting motorcyclists and bicyclists, and will use them to the fullest extent to obtain just compensation for injured riders.

Uber, Lyft, and other ride-sharing services have exploded in popularity in recent years, and largely pushed traditional taxis out of the market in Southern California.  Auto accidents involving Uber and Lyft vehicles can be complex because of insurance coverage issues.  Drivers carry their own auto insurance policies, but so do Uber and Lyft.  The legal issue is whether ride-sharing companies can be held liable for injuries caused by the drivers.  Chen Law Group has the experience necessary to handle claims against Uber, Lyft, and other ride-sharing companies.

It is no secret that driving while under the influence in California (or most other states for that matter) is a crime.  But when a drunk driver causes bodily injury to someone else, the victim can seek compensation in a separate civil case for medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages.  Furthermore, the victim can demand punitive damages as a means to punish the drunk driver.  The victim can do so immediately without waiting for the drunk driver's criminal lawsuit to conclude.  Contact Chen Law Group to ensure that drunk drivers are justly punished for their crime.

California's Vehicle Code requires that those involved in vehicle collisions stop immediately at the scene for the exchange of information.  However, there will always be a percentage of the population who are unscrupulous, and will attempt to evade responsibility for the damages and injuries they cause.  Victims of hit and run accidents should attempt to capture as many characteristics of the offending vehicle as safely possible, and call the police.  Then call Chen Law Group so that we can work with the police department to track down the offender for proper compensation.

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are difficult to diagnose and treat.  Casualties of TBI often experience cognitive complications for months or even years after suffering the injury.  Examples include difficulties with work and/or problems with personal relationships.  To complicate matters, since TBIs are considered "invisible injuries," insurance companies often refuse to pay full compensation to the victim, believing they can convince a jury that there are no real injuries.  Chen Law Group works closely with medical experts to ensure that TBIs are properly diagnosed, treated, and compensated.

There are few things in life more tragic than the loss of a loved one due to the negligence or intentional acts of another human being.  In such tragedies, the law allows survivors of a deceased to pursue a wrongful death claim for compensation for losses such as loss of consortium, medical expenses, funeral benefits, loss of future earnings, and/or financial support.  Although the period of mourning can be heartbreaking, the legal actions for compensation do not have to be.  Chen Law Group will aid survivors in obtaining full compensation while being sensitive to these trying times.

Dogs are beloved by their owners, and are often considered close members of the family.  But dogs are still animals, and they can bite.  Depending on the size and aggression of the dog, the bites can result in serious injuries such as skin puncture, nerve damage, infection, or permanent disfigurement.  Fortunately, California law holds owners strictly liable for any injuries inflicted by their dog.  California law also requires owners to leash their dogs at any time the dog is not on the private property of the owner. Chen Law Group is thoroughly familiar with how to pursue claims against an owner for dog bites.

Slip and falls can happen in any place at any time.  The area of law that governs slip and fall accidents is called premises liability.  Under California's premises liability law, landowners who are aware of people coming upon their land or who invite others onto their land need to ensure that their property is reasonably safe.  If the property has a dangerous condition that injures a person, the owner of the land can be held liable.  Chen Law Group is well versed in premises liability law to help the injured seek compensation against landowners.

Any providers of public transportation who transport passengers for hire is called a common carrier.  Buses are one of the most prevalent types of common carriers on our California roadways.  Under California law, common carriers are held to one of the highest standards of care when providing their transportation services.  The reason is because one accident involving a bus can result in the injury of many of its passengers and/or the drivers of other vehicles.  Chen Law Group can help passengers or other parties injured in a bus accident seek proper compensation.

Commercial airplanes are another form of common carriers.  Accidents involving airplanes are typically investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  Concurrent with the FAA's investigation, victims of airplane disasters or their survivors should promptly seek legal representation from a law firm with experience in this area of law.  This is because monetary compensation can be sought from those responsible for causing the accident.  Chen Law Group has the infrastructure to accept airplane disaster cases and to ensure that victims or survivors are properly compensated.

A lifetime of physical scarring and excruciating pain are injuries commonly associated with burn casualties.  Unfortunately, the consequences rarely end there.  Many times, victims also end up enduring years of psychological and emotional trauma in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  Since PTSD is not an injury that is readily visible to the eye, it is often neglected when calculating total damages.  Let Chen Law Group ensure that damages resulting from burn injuries are accurately calculated, and that victims are justly compensated.
